CSCI 375 announcements: Spring 2017

Exam office hours
I'll have office hours at the following times for the next few weeks:
Wed. 12th: 11-2
Wed. 19th: 10-12 (375 final is 1-4 in room 114)
Thu. 20th: 1-3 (330 final is 9-12 in room 114)
Fri. 21st: 11-2
Wed. 26th: 10:15-1:15
Fri. 28th: 10:30-1:30

In-class inspection exercise: just a heads-up that in the lecture on March 20th each team will be expected to complete an inspection of their data descriptions across the last three deliverables: the Requirements.odt, ProcessModel.odt, and DataModel.odt.

Each team is responsible for assigning team members to each document and preparing their inspection list prior to the lecture, as per the instructions given here.

Project deliverables: just a heads-up that the deliverables/requirements for all the remaining phases have been finalized.

Update: Feb. 28th - back in town
Sorry for the confusion yesterday folks, hit problems with customs/immigration coming through LAX and wound up arriving back way later than planned. (Another lost lecture was *NOT* what we needed this term!)

In the lecture tomorrow we'll get back on track with modelling techniques/ideas (relevant for the deliverables of March 13th and 20th), and in the labs next week I'm going to get the teams to do a preliminary run of your requirements/interface presentations, and will give you the feedback sheets that will be used for the real thing during the presentations on March 8th (each member of the class will provide a brief evaluation of each product and presentation for that one).

I will be out of the country during study break
I will attempt to follow email, but access/times may not be ideal. If you have immediate problems please contact Gara Pruesse (Gara.Pruesse@viu.ca, office 218).

Lecture Wednesday Feb 8th
Just confirming that, as per the earlier email, since there have been challenges in having teams meet in person the past several days, the presentations and deliverables will be due NEXT wednesday, the 15th, and today's lecture is an optional working session for your project. I may or may not be there, depending on what's happening on the Malahat ;)

Lab/Lecture Cancellation Monday Feb. 6th 2017
Sorry folks, I can't get out of my neighbourhood this morning. The risk-planning presentations/deliverables will be due in the lecture on Wednesday instead, then we'll resume talking about requirements/specifications.

Team repositories: Jan. 11th, 2017
The three team repositories this semester are
   csci375/ebk
   csci375/woc
   csci375/idg
Each team member has full access to their team's repository, and can clone it using a command like
git clone csci:csci375/GRP
where GRP is the appropriate group name (ebk, woc, or idg).

The instructor has read, but not write, access to each group's repository.

Copies of the suggested initial content (preliminary files and directories) for the team repositories can be found on otter in directory ~wesselsd/teamRepo

State of the web pages: Jan. 3rd, 2017
Most of the core pages have been updated (the outline, the lab/lecture schedule, the projects pages etc).
The details for the projects are complete through Lab 4 (Jan. 30th), but are only outlines for labs 5-12 at the moment.

Preliminary announcement: Dec. 18th, 2016
This is the announcements page for the spring 2017 offering of CSCI 375. The course web pages will be in flux for the next couple of weeks as I try to nail down course details.
