CSCI 375 Team project: preliminary proposal and feasibility analysis: documents and presentation

Deadline

These deliverables are due by the start of the registered lab session on January 23rd.

Document name

The document must be named ProjectProposal.odt and must be located in the Documents directory of your team git repository.

In this document the team is describing their initial project idea and analyzing its feasibility.

Document overview

Provide a short (2-3 paragraphs) outline of the content of this document.

Preliminary proposal

Provide a description of your team project idea, complete with at least the following:

• Your chosen project/product name.

• A product overview, in paragraph form, briefly outlining the product, who its target audience is, and the key feature ideas.

• A more detailed discussion of the target audience and the motivation behind the product, clearly explaining why the product is (or should be) of interest to the target audience.

• A preliminary feature list and prioritization. This should outline the core features your team sees as essential, additional features that are important but not essential, and features that would be nice but are less important.

• One or two preliminary interface ideas. This should include the initial ideas for the look and feel of the product - some simple images/diagrams and accompanying description.

Feasibility analysis and recommendations

Provide an analysis of how practical your project is for your team this semester, complete with at least the following:

• An overview of your feasibility analysis document.

• An analysis of the technical risks associated with the project and the key feature related to these risks.

• An analysis of the economic risks associated with the project and the key feature related to these risks.

• An analysis of the organizational risks associated with the project and the key feature related to these risks.

• A cost benefit analysis of the project.

• A summary of your analysis and a set of recommendations on the scale/scope of the project.

Updated team structure, roles and responsibilities

In light of the proposal and recommendations mentioned above, provide an update describing any changes to your planned team structure, roles, and responsibilities.

Team presentation

In the lab sessions of Jan. 23rd, each team will provide a short (10-15 minute) presentation summarizing the information in the document described above.
