CSCI 485 lab investigation topic: Skype

This week's investigative material is Baset and Schulzrinne's analysis of Skype, particularly sections 3 through 4.2.

The topic questions for this material are:

1. Summarize, in your own words, describe how the authors believe the Skype login process works and how they deduced that based on the experiments they conducted.

2. Identify what you see as the biggest weaknesses in the authors' experimental processes or deductions.

ALTERNATIVE I haven't had the opportunity to dig through this site yet, but an interesting (and much more recent) alternative to the paper above would be to examine and critique the techniques used here: Reverse Engineering Skype at oKLabs
